35 years ago Markus Hug and Martin Witschi started a 'two man show' based in Lurtigen after finishing their studies in electrical engineering at the Technical College of Burgdorf.
After 2 years the company was split into the two business units - IT Services and Hard/Software Engineering.
The IT department supported SME customers in the region and offered the full range of IT services, from installation to support.
Due to the retirement of Markus Hug in 2026, a new solution had to be found for the IT division. We are delighted that VM-IT GmbH will take over and further expand the IT department of Hug-Witschi AG from January 1, 2026. All existing IT services will continue seamlessly and be expanded with new ideas.
In the field of engineering, customer-specific solutions were first developed in the industrial sector. Among our customers are Swisscom, Gilgen, Ascom, Frama.
For Selecta the development of the universal vending machine control Euro'90 started in 1989. From this the VMI (Vending Machine Interface) was developed in 1997, which was marketed under the name DIVA in Switzerland and Germany from 2000.
From 2008, the second generation of the controller family was launched with DIVA2 and the product range was continuously expanded. This includes vending machine and cash register readers, various charging stations and various accessories. In the software area, products and tools for efficient billing, configuration, cash register connections and cloud services are developed.
Today, we offer our customers a comprehensive portfolio of products in the following areas: payment solutions (cashless RFID, mobile, cash), converter technologies, charging stations, networking and cloud solutions, controlling, tools, etc.
Our current office building in Bösingen employs 14 people. The payment technology, production, and administration departments are spread across three floors.
